Fairfield Fitness For Women has been helping women change their lives for the better since 2010. We now have a new name and a new look, and our effective program continues to thrive!
Local owner, Juliet Harker, has been a fitness studio owner for 10 years and has always had a passion for fitness... whether it's training for and finishing the Boston Marathon or completing the 100-mile CT Challenge bike ride...or surviving breast cancer...fitness and health are her top priorities. And her 3 teenage boys, of course!
The most satisfying aspect of Juliet owning her own fitness studio for women is helping women become their best selves...physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.

Because our small training groups are limited to 4 women, you'll receive plenty of individual attention from your trainer. We appreciate that everyone is different. So, you'll enjoy a customized workout every time!
Typically, clients have three scheduled appointments a week. The workout is one hour (half hour weight training, half hour cardio). You'll receive nutrition support and regular weigh-ins. Everything you need to achieve your fitness goals is right here!
That's what it's all about. Period. You want results and we're going to do everything we can to make sure you get them. As long as you are ready to put yourself first and make the commitment to your health and fitness, the results WILL happen!
Are you waiting for the perfect time? Sorry, there's no such thing! Too busy with work? The kids are taking all your time? You're knee deep in home renovations? The "perfect time" to start a fitness regimen is...NOW. Life won't slow down and neither will your weight or your age! You need to take charge of your body and mind now and just do it!
What made you decide to become a personal trainer? I became a trainer because I enjoy fitness and I love to help people. I have trained personally for over 35 years. In 2007 I completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine's 'Optimum Performance Training' curriculum to earn my Certified Personal Trainer credential (NASM-CPT).
How long have you been training? A long time. A really long time!
What do you like most about working at Fairfield Fitness For Women? My favorite thing about training at Fairfield Fitness For Women is the opportunity to help a wide variety of clients work towards their fitness goals and well-being.
What is your greatest physical fitness achievement? My most satisfying fitness achievement is having played semi-professional football at a high level into my mid-forties. It was a great challenge and honor to compete effectively with and against athletes not much more than half my age.
What would we be surprised to know about you? Many people are surprised to find out that I am an ordained minister and my primary vocation outside the fitness studio is pastoring a local congregation.
What fitness certifications have you acquired? National Academy of Sports Medicine - Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT)
What made you decide to become a personal trainer? I always knew I wanted to help people and potentially save their lives should they need it. I figured that it would be more effective to instill discipline into people as opposed to motivation. I teach people how to fish in order to feed them for a lifetime as opposed to giving them a fish so they can eat for a day. Also, I always wanted to be strong and it's my firm belief that people that are truly strong are able to uplift others.
How long have you been training? I've been training for about 2 years whether it's training one person or having a whole fitness class to teach...and I love it!
What do you like most about working at Fairfield Fitness For Women? My favorite thing about working at Fairfield Fitness For Women is the different connections I'm making with so many different people and having the opportunity to uplift them and show them the strength and beauty they didn't know they had or feel like they've lost over the years. It's a beautiful thing...also, the boss lady is all that and a bag of chips!
What is your greatest physical fitness achievement? That's a hard question...I believe it was when I ran a 13.92 during my track days or being able to do 119 pushups or being able to do 62 burpees in under 4 minutes and half of them being single leg burpees.
What would we be surprised to know about you? I'm a nerd that loves anime and comics. I actually wait weekly for new manga (Japanese comics) chapters to be released. Also, I'm Jamaican but I don't eat beans or coconut.
What fitness certifications have you acquired? Associate's Degree in Exercise Science, Group Exercise Certification, Group Fight, Group Core
What made you decide to become a personal trainer? I wanted to help other people achieve their physical fitness goals. I was really into strength training, personally, a few years earlier, and I realized that I could help other people who wanted to become physically fit.
How long have you been training? I began training in Florida in 2013 after I received my diploma from the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI). Then I moved to CT and began training at Fairfield Fitness For Women.
What do you like most about working at Fairfield Fitness For Women? I love the clients! I have gotten to know a lot of the Fairfield Fitness clients over the past 4 years and I enjoy helping them and seeing them reach their health and physical fitness goals.
What is your greatest physical fitness achievement? My greatest physical fitness achievement is losing a lot of weight - 70 pounds! I was quite heavy before I started training and taking better care of myself. It seems like an impossible goal when you have a lot of weight to lose, but I am proof that if you put your effort into achieving weight loss goals, you can succeed and feel much healthier and more confident.
What would we be surprised to know about you? People might be surprised to know that my hobby is collecting and flying drones. I have had several drones since I lived in Florida and I enjoy making aerial photography. The technology is amazing and has improved so much over the past 5 years.
What fitness certifications have you acquired? Personal Training Diploma from the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI). I am also AED and CPR certified.
Mystery? Drama? Historical fiction? We cover it all! Join our monthly book group for lively discussions and social time. We meet right in the studio! A few of our favorites were "A Man Called Ove", "Rules of Civility" and "A Mountain of Crumbs".
Everyone looks forward to our annual holiday party! It is a wonderful way to connect with fellow members and friends outside of the studio...you might not recognize everyone without their workout clothes and pony tail! We eat, drink and definitely get merry!

Friendships, new and old, abound here at the studio. Working out in small groups creates an environment of support, familiarity and camraderie. Many of our clients have been with us since our original opening in 2010!
